Troubadour's Philosophy

TEAM= Together Everyone Achieves More

Troubadour is “inclusive” as opposed to “exclusive”. Everyone is welcome to participate and if at first you don’t succeed, you can try again. The stage is always open. The heart of Troubadour is based on giving and sharing. It’s a “give and take” mentality, which is something quite natural to the human spirit.

Troubadour was developed as a tool to galvanize the Acoustic Music Community of Berlin. This tool is in the form of a competition. I believe competition to be healthy. I am the youngest of seven children and have over 35 first cousins (so you can imagine what it was like at my Grandmother’s house on the weekends ;-). We raced eachother regularly and we were taught to share.

Challenges and competitions build Teams and clear, defining strategies. By creating a cultural “sport” event, we gain sponsors, advertisement, a wider audience and a larger support network. A brighter light shines on our stage in which we all benefit from.

Being a competition, the desire to win is natural. However, it is important to think differently about this particular “competition”. Troubadour is about bringing people together, building community and strengthening the network of Songwriters, Acoustic Music Lovers and the Businesses and Organizations that support us.

If you don’t win, it is important not to personalize the loss. If not you, which one of your colleagues would you like to see win? Supporting each other is essential in our line of work and it would be wonderful if you could support Troubadour and your colleagues throughout the season.
